Hartford Basketball Legends Reunion (7/28/17 – 7/29/17)

This event is a first in Hartford’s grand sports history. We will reunite past, present, and future basketball legends that grew up in the Hartford area and contributed to the overall success of this great game. There will be two days of recognition and celebration combined with honoring those who have molded Hartford’s Basketball legacy. Both men and women are being highlighted in this weekend tribute.

We have organized a Meet & Greet reception to be held at the Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, Friday evening from 6pm – 9pm. Both young and old will take part in this historic weekend. There will be skills training, lectures, and personal interaction with honored players from high school, college, professionals, coaches, sports writers, and executives from the game. The free youth skills & drills training camp will be held in Keney Park, Hartford, Saturday 10am -2pm. There is a special presentation for the book signing of, “Oh What a Move, Profiles of Hartford Basketball Players, by Author Michael Copeland.

You don’t want to miss the Saturday evening dinner Gala to be held at the USS Chowder Pot VI, in Hartford, from 6pm -9pm where testimony will be given to four of Hartford’s best known coaches from this time period. Joining us for the two day reunion celebration is our Honorary Chairman Donald “Dee” Rowe, Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun, Sports Broadcaster Kevin Nathan from NBC Channel 30, Coach Howie Dickenman, and our host MC John Motley. The main attraction of the evening will be the players from Weaver High, Hartford Public, Bulkeley High, Northwest Catholic and South Catholic, sharing in the comradery and reminiscing great times of old playing basketball in the Capital city.
